“I spent my childhood screen time on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Now I'm building the real thing.”
I’m Chris, but most people call me C.J. I’ve wanted to fly since I was a kid. Nearly all of my screen time went to Microsoft Flight Simulator instead of whatever everyone else was playing. The path to becoming a pilot didn’t work out the way I’d planned, so I went to school for film instead. That turned into a real love of visual storytelling, and eventually photography, which is still how I see the world. I’m working on my Private Pilot License now, so the original plan is finally catching up to me.
Runway Retreats pulls all of that together. I’ve spent my career in software sales, which taught me how to earn trust and keep it. I’ve built a life around travel and chasing unique experiences. And underneath all of it, my mom taught me to make memories over buying things. She’s not here to see this, but she’s a big part of why I’m building it.
Somewhere along the way, I noticed there wasn’t one place where flying and great travel lived together. Aviation had its own corners of the internet. Travel had its own. Nobody had built a place where a pilot could find and book a destination worth flying to. So I started building it.
We’re early. I’m personally vetting every host before anything goes live. It’s slower, but it’s the only way I know to do this right. If you’ve ever landed somewhere and wished there was an easy way to find a great place to stay, this is for you. I’d love to have you along early.

I review every host and property myself before anything goes live. If it's listed here, someone already asked the questions you'd ask on the phone: runway condition, parking for the airplane, how late you can arrive.
No booking fees, ever
Hosts pay one flat platform fee and include cleaning in the nightly rate, so nothing gets added for you at checkout. Longer stays get an automatic discount.

Where are you launching?
Florida first. Pilots can join from anywhere, and where our members actually fly decides where we go next.
What does curated actually mean?
Every host application is reviewed by hand before a listing goes live. We're not a directory or an open marketplace.
Do you provide flight planning or operational guidance?
No. Runway Retreats is a lodging platform only. Pilots are solely responsible for all flight decisions, planning, weather evaluation, and FAA compliance.
Does my property need to be directly on an airstrip?
Yes. Every listing has direct runway or taxiway access. You land, taxi to the door, and stay. No drive, no shuttle, no courtesy car.
How does pricing work? Are there hidden fees?
No. The nightly price you see is the price you pay. We don't add a guest booking fee, and hosts include cleaning in their nightly rate. Stays of 3+, 7+, and 14+ nights get an automatic discount.
How often will you email?
Once or twice a month: early access updates, launch news, and the occasional question about how you fly. Unsubscribe anytime.
